Carol and Adrian moved to the southern region of France, called the Languedoc, in 1985, when Adrian retired from the Metropolitan Police in London.
They had been visiting this area for the fifteen years prior to that for holidays.
After buying an old, and derelict wine cave, in a village of 65 inhabitants they set about renovating it, and integrating into the local community.
